Hey folks!
Some of you may know that beside photography and studying I am also working as birdringer, mostly at the birdringing station
"Schlammwiss" in Luxemburg.
In 2015/16/17 I was really busy with a project where we caught water pipits (Anthus spinoletta), put a GPS on their back and checked where their origin is. Water pipits are
mountain breeding birds and because Luxembourg's highest point is only 560 meters above sea level, it was clear that they are breeding somewhere else and they fly to Luxemburg to overwinter. It's
planned to publish four articles about the water pipits by REGULUS.
This project wouldn't be published without the help of
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Gernot Segelbacher
& André Konter!
The 50 GPS were sponsored by
the "Ministère du Développement durable et des Infrastructures",
by the "Velo Club Hirondelle Schuttrange" ,
by the "Hotel Légère Munsbach" and
by Mr. Rymond Streicher & Mrs. Danièle Schmit.
Thank you very much!
The first two publications (in German):
- Zusammenfassung der Bergpieperberingung (Anthus spinoletta) in Luxemburg in den letzten 18 Jahren
- Überprüfung der morphologischen Unterschiede zur Geschlechterbestimmung beim Bergpieper
The next two will be published by REGULUS in 2020!
